Obituary of Mr. Robert L. Watson

Robert L. Watson, son of the late Julius “Bub” Watson and Ruth Burch Watson was born January 9, 1937 in Chesterfield, South Carolina.  He entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the McLeod Hospice House, Florence, South Carolina.

Robert was a graduate of Gary High School, Chesterfield, South Carolina and attended Hampton Institute in Hampton, Virginia.  He was employed as a substitute teacher for the Chesterfield County Public School System and retired from Ina Bearing, Cheraw, South Carolina.

Robert joined Mt. Airy A.M.E. Zion Church, Chesterfield, South Carolina.  He served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent for many years.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: a niece, Marnita Watts, Charlotte, NC; nephews, Spurgeon Watson, Jr. and Lonnie Watson (Barbara), Charlotte, NC; caregivers, Duncan Hanna, Jr. (Diane), Ruby, SC and Tommy Joines, Chesterfield, SC; a great niece and two great nephews; and a host of cousin and friends.
